IBPC Winter 2024: Tech Startups for GBA

Students from HKUST, UIUC, and University of Bayreuth gathered in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, tasked with creating technology startups specifically for the Greater Bay Area. Incorporating insights from visits to leading companies like DJI and Pony.ai, the 48 participants developed business plans addressing GBA market opportunities and policy landscapes.

IBPC Winter 2021: Reimagining Education (COVID-19)

Held in a mixed-mode format in Hong Kong, 30 HKUST students tackled EdTech challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on 1.6 billion learners. Guided by industry leaders from firms like Find Solution Ai and MIT HK Innovation Lab, teams developed solutions to reimagine education.

IBPC Winter 2020: Startups for Disabled in Brazil

Students from HKUST, UIUC, Bayreuth, and the University of São Paulo convened in São Paulo and São Carlos, Brazil, to create tech-driven business concepts. The specific challenge was enhancing the integration and support of disabled individuals within Brazilian society.

IBPC Winter 2014: Bayreuth, Germany Competition

Hosted in Bayreuth and Nuremberg, this competition focused on "Intelligent Sustainable Mobility," challenging teams from HKUST, UIUC, Bayreuth, and São Paulo. Participants developed business plans for sustainable vehicle technologies tailored to the local German economic ecosystem.

The T&M International Business Plan Competition, co-organized by HKUST and UIUC since 2007, involves students from various universities working in interdisciplinary teams to pitch original start-up ideas to real investors in a competition-style format.
